Monkeys

Hey, it's Megan, writing to you (still) from Uganda.

Last month my husband and I went away for a night to a safari lodge - a place to go see animals out in the wild and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature! Well, we'd been enjoying the peace and quiet for a couple hours, when we returned to our room to find that a monkey had broken in and stolen all of our cookies! (These were GOOD cookies too. Chocolate chip. Homemade.)

The culprit

We knew that monkeys were sneaky, but we didn't know they were smart enough to open the tent and find the cookies that we cleverly hid in the closet. I guess it wasn't such a clever hiding spot. So we decided we really needed to fool these monkeys by locking the tent zippers with zap straps and getting rid of any remaining cookies!

We left the room, and when we came back, guess who had been inside? Yes. The same monkey. Looking for more cookies. He had managed to break in even with our tight zipper, velcro, and zap straps. These monkeys were persistent! They knew what they wanted and they weren't going to stop until they found it! Thankfully after they realized that the cookies were all gone they didn't try to break in again.

"Oh man! I want more cookies."

I think we can learn something from these clever monkeys about perseverance...what do you think?!
