5 Years Later

Can you believe that XLr8! ministry has been serving God for 5 years already?! Time sure flies when you're having fun! Here we are at our first ever performance for the fall festival at Willingdon Church back in 2006:

5 years later, we feel so blessed to have performed at various churches, schools, and community events throughout the lower mainland. It's our joy to bring the gospel message to kids and we are continuing to pray for God's direction with our ministry.

5 years brings lots of change - our ministry has already grown from 5 to 10! That's right, we've all gotten married and God has blessed us with faithful spouses whom we serve the Lord alongside.

Please pray for us as we continue this ministry into our next 5 years!

Monkeys

Hey, it's Megan, writing to you (still) from Uganda.

Last month my husband and I went away for a night to a safari lodge - a place to go see animals out in the wild and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature! Well, we'd been enjoying the peace and quiet for a couple hours, when we returned to our room to find that a monkey had broken in and stolen all of our cookies! (These were GOOD cookies too. Chocolate chip. Homemade.)

The culprit

We knew that monkeys were sneaky, but we didn't know they were smart enough to open the tent and find the cookies that we cleverly hid in the closet. I guess it wasn't such a clever hiding spot. So we decided we really needed to fool these monkeys by locking the tent zippers with zap straps and getting rid of any remaining cookies!

We left the room, and when we came back, guess who had been inside? Yes. The same monkey. Looking for more cookies. He had managed to break in even with our tight zipper, velcro, and zap straps. These monkeys were persistent! They knew what they wanted and they weren't going to stop until they found it! Thankfully after they realized that the cookies were all gone they didn't try to break in again.

"Oh man! I want more cookies."

I think we can learn something from these clever monkeys about perseverance...what do you think?!

Go!

This week we wrote a new song together! We're so excited about sharing our upcoming music with you.

This week's song we entitled "GO!" - it's about following God's command to get up and go share the good news about Jesus. It's a scary job and we may not feel ready, but God calls us to go anyway.

But it doesn't stop there - He promises that He will be by our side forever! We will never have to go alone or by our own strength, because God will always be with us, every step of the way.

You can read a great example about this in the bible! Check out the book of Jonah, it's found in the Old Testament.

Kids!

Hey! Megan here, writing to you from Uganda.

In case you didn't know this already, we LOVE kids. We love being part of a ministry that revolves around kids. We love talking to kids, singing with kids, laughing with kids, praying with kids...and since coming to Uganda, I have loved taking pictures of kids!

Kids here love to be photographed, and then they like to look at their picture on the camera screen. They think it's pretty cool - and I bet some of you also like having your picture taken!

These are some of the kids we've seen around here recently.

One of the chores that most kids do in Uganda is collect water in jerry cans. In this picture they are all carrying water back to their homes, because they don't have running water that comes out of a tap. What are your chores at home?
